The Ascent Of Gravity

By Marcus Chown

The author's writing is conversational and approachable which helps demysify abstract concepts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, as his enthusiasm for the subject is evident throughout this book, which help's maintain the reader's interest. The book covers the historical development of gravity and how Netwon's theories has laid the foundations for our understanding of our universe. It further breaksdown the complexities of relativity and how gravity is not a force but a curvature of spacetime. Lastly he points out that while Einstein's theories work well on a large scale (black holes and galaxies) , they fall apart at the subatomic level. This is where quantum mechanic take over. Would recommend 4/5.
